REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR THE 2019 MEMBERSHIP EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR

Dear Odd Fellows and Rebekahs,

This is the first announcement for the 2019 Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Membership Educational Seminar.   After some years hosting the Seminar in Reno, we are coming back to California at the Visalia Wyndham Hotel on January 4-6, 2019.   To attend the Seminar you must do two things:  (1) Register for the Seminar by filling out the Registration From (below) and mailing it in with your reservation fee, and (2) Reserve your room at the hotel for the Seminar by calling the hotel at the special number listed below.   This email lets you know how to do both, and gives you detailed information about the Seminar.  Note:   You must submit both the Registration Form for the Seminar and contact the Wyndham to reserve your room.   Simply submitting the Registration Form does not reserve a room for you at the hotel.

1.  The 2019 Membership Educational Seminar.  This Seminar is targeted to Odd Fellows and Rebekahs who hold elected positions in their Lodges, or who were just elected and are incoming elected officers, or who wish to hold elected positions in the future, or who simply wish to learn more about Odd Fellowship.   The 2019 Seminar will cover new, stimulating and provocative subjects, and also will provide further education for officers of the Lodge.  The speakers will be knowledgeable, dynamic and interesting.  Subjects will include:

* The Breakout Sessions will be conducted simultaneously in four separate and private rooms as the last subjects covered in the Saturday afternoon session.

The Seminar will be held on Saturday, January 5 (from 9 till 5), and will continue till Sunday, January 6 (from 9 till 12), concluding at noon on January 6.  Breakfast will be served on Saturday and Sunday from 8 to 9 a.m. and the cost of these two breakfasts is included in the registration fee.   Registrants who plan to stay at the hotel should arrive at the hotel, on Friday, January 4, after 4 p.m.  (If you arrive before 4 p.m. it is unlikely that your room will be ready.) There will be a no-host social event on Friday, January 4 from 6:30 till 9:30 p.m. at the Seminar Hotel, so you can meet and chat with other Seminar participants.   Saturday evening, January 5, after 5 p.m. is free time for you.   Feel free to make your own dinner plans with Lodge friends at the hotel or at the many restaurants in downtown Visalia.

2.  How to register for the Seminar.  The cost to register for this Seminar is only $50.   This $50 registers you to take all Seminar subjects, and covers the cost of the buffet breakfast on Saturday, January 5 and Sunday, January 6.   The buffet breakfast is sumptuous and includes:  scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, link sausages, home fried potatoes, assorted breakfast pastries and muffins served with sweet butter, fruit preserves and marmalade, assorted bagels and cream cheese, biscuits with country gravy, seasonal fruit trays with assorted Dannon yogurts, individual cereal assortment with low fat and skim milk, chilled orange and assorted juices, regular and decaf coffee and herbal teas.

Every person who wishes to attend must fill out the Registration Form – one person for each form.   To register for the seminar please print out and fill out the following Registration Form, clip it, write your check for $50 per person (payable to “Grand Lodge of California”) and mail the form and your check in to:

Please note that the Registration Form and $50 check must be received postmarked not later than December 10, 2018.   Registration Forms after December 10 are considered late registration and will require a registration fee of $150, rather than $50.   If for some reason you will not be able to attend, you should make every effort to fill your spot as we do not issue refunds of the registration fee.

3.  How to book a room for the Seminar.  The Membership Seminar Hotel is the Visalia Wyndham, 9000 West Airport Drive, Visalia, CA 93277, just minutes from downtown Visalia.   We have negotiated a remarkably reasonable rate for the Seminar.   The Wyndham Hotel will charge you $89 per night, plus 12.19% taxes for a total nightly rate of $99.84.   I have reserved 115 rooms for the Seminar and anticipate about 150 seminar registrations.   I urge you to contact the hotel at your earliest convenience – before all available rooms are taken.  Financial arrangements for your room are between you and the hotel.   You will want to book your hotel room for Friday evening January 4 and Saturday evening January 5, departing on January 6.   Parking is plentiful and free.  If you need special accommodations for disabilities or infirmities, please let the hotel know when you make your reservation.

You must contact the hotel to make your own room reservations.   Please note:  Submitting your Registration Form for the Seminar does NOT reserve a room for you at the hotel.   Please contact the hotel to make that room reservation by calling the hotel at (559) 651-5000 and ask to speak to Tiffany Mori, Sales Administrative Assistant.   You can also email her at tmori@altamonthotels.com.   When you talk to Tiffany, mention that this is a guest room reservation under the following bloc:  GRAND LODGE ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS, and give her the dates of January 4-6, 2019.   This will get you the special $99.84 per night (including tax) rate we have negotiated and the bloc of rooms we have reserved for the seminar.
