The Upland Odd Fellows, Euclid Lodge #68 assembled Easter Baskets for the children housed by Foothill Family Shelter. The Upland Odd Fellows supplied the baskets after the original organization that was to supply the baskets backed out at the last minute. Twenty Four children were able to experience a Happy Easter. Foothill Family Shelter is a nonprofit organization founded in 1984 which houses homeless adults and children for a period of up to 120 days, free of rent and utility charges. They also provide one-year transitional housing as well as permanent housing. The Foothill Family Shelter currently serves as a transitional facility for homeless adults and children from the west end of San Bernardino County and the east end of Los Angeles County (Upland, Ontario, Montclair, Pomona, Claremont and Rancho Cucamonga).
Foothill Family Shelter is a non-profit that Euclid lodge supports usually at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The lodge was contacted by the shelter after the original organization that was to supply Easter Baskets for the children pulled-out.
Planning involved was as follows. Someone to coordinate with the shelter to find out the total number of baskets needed and age and gender of the children.
Someone was needed to purchase supplies needed and someone to deliver the baskets. The baskets were assembled on our regular 3rd Tuesday night meeting.
