Event Description:

This past week, the Upland Lodge of the Independent Order Of Odd Fellows helped to celebrate Dr. Seuss, by supporting Read Across America with Volunteerism. Read Across America is a nationwide literacy campaign.

Read Across America is an NEA nationwide literacy initiative, that is spearheaded by the United Way That encourages children to open their minds to reading.

Andrea Packwood, Inland Empire United Way Coordinator for the event said, “ read across America is an annual reading initiative and awareness program that calls for children nationwide to celebrate reading on March 2nd, the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss.”

The Upland Odd Fellows helped the Inland Empire United Way Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Seuss and Early Childhood literacy by reading to children at Sultana Elementary In Ontario on March 1st

Partnered with the United Way. I reached out to them and informed them that we were looking for volunteer opportunities in the community

Pro's no cash expenditure, A great opportunity to serve other's, Good exposure for the lodge.
Con's: A daytime weekday event.Some lodge members were not able to get off work
