Volcano: I Don’t Know
Now I don’t know
I don’t know
I don’t know where I’m a gonna go
When the Volcano blow!
–Jimmy Buffett

How many of you have been to Volcano (California)? The Odd Fellows own the Historic Volcano lodge in the tiny foothill town of Volcano located about 50 miles southeast of Sacramento. We co-own the property with the local Mason lodge.
Every year, on the third Saturday in September, we hold a special annual meeting there. We are able to take a step back in history during the meeting. The lodge has the traditional design with the meeting hall on the second floor. Unlike other lodges, the meeting hall has no electricity!
The meeting hall is lit by oil or kerosene lamps, including a large chandelier in the center of the room that is lowered to be lit and then raised during the meeting. Members from all over the state come to soak in the ambience and spirit.
After the meeting, you can stroll around Volcano, explore the nearby Black Chasm Caverns, a National Natural Landmark, or tour Amador County wine country.
This year the annual meeting will be Saturday September 16, 2017, at 11:15 am. A group lunch will be available in nearby Pine Grove at the ______________ Restaurant. The charge is $15 for lunch with beverage and tip. If you would like to join us for lunch, call Sheryl Cambron at (530)753-7523.
